I am a big believer of one cartridge chambering in multiple firearms. My Current project is the .38 special \ .357 magnum. It took a bit of doing but here is what I did. - Rossi 38\357 lever gun 20” barrel, Stainless
- Ruger 38\357 Vaquero (not the New Vaquero) 5” barrel, Stainless
- Ruger 38\357 SP101 3’ barrel, Stainless
- Ruger 38\357 GP100 3' barrel, Stainless
After a year of shopping I’ve purchased: - 260 rounds .357 Winchester Black Talon, 180 grain
- 300 rounds .357 Remington High Terminal Performance (HTP), 180 grain
- 1,500 rounds 38+P “Reload” 140 grain SJHP (5.5 grains of Unique and CCI magnum primer)
Standardization of ammunition will make things easier in a SHTF scenario. However, I haven’t limited myself to this cartridge and this cartridge only. I do believe in diversity of firearms and cartridges.
Is anyone else taking a similar approach?
