Just because a Builder Bag isn’t big, at thirteen inches from end to end, it doesn’t mean you cannot pack a ton of essential tools and adjuncts into one of these beauties. To be honest with you, I have two Builder Bags with identical equipment in each. I would be able to trade part or all of the equipment inside the bag for additional resources if I chose to do so. I could also use the extra supplies to harden a larger area if I had access to additional survivors for manpower. An example of a Builder Bag is:
o 1 – 13” inch CRAFTSMAN red & black utility bag
o On the outside of the bag sits:
- 1 - WD-40 lube pen
- 1 - 3 in 1 oil bottle
- 1 – bottle of Gorilla glue
- 1 - magnesium fire starter
- 4 - AA batteries
- 1 - AA flashlight
- 2 - mouse traps.
o 1 - Double decker utility box. Inside the box sits:

A Builder Bag provides a minimal set of tools and fasteners to secure your home or build a shelter. Additionally, a Builder Bag should be placed in your auto as part of your Car-BOB. These tools may fix minor auto breakdowns or meet other needs when you are on the road. I have read countless guides from many genres of survival and have found most, if not all of them to be missing this or a similar style bags. These bags are heavy, twenty-five pounds or more. Do not plan on hand carrying this bag over long distances. Be prepared to gut the bag for the most essential of tools based on your situation.
Note: With careful packing all the above mentioned equipment will fit neatly inside the 13” inch CRAFTSMAN red & black utility bag.
